Giacomo the Fool wants to try his hand at being a merchant. What is he going to sell and how will he traverse the silk road?

 

Challenge 2: A Single Step

Perform a piece about leaving home.

 

Challenge 3: The Silk Road Sponsered by Magistra Annetje van Leuven

Perform a period piece from a region along the Silk Road.

Challenge 4: Secret Destinations

Perform a piece about an unexpected discovery. "All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware" is a quote by philosopher Martin Buber, signifying that every journey, even when we think we know where we are going, can lead to unexpected and profound personal discoveries that we couldn't have foreseen when we started out. 

 

Challenge 5: Take Only Memories

Find a period piece and put a spin on it to make it your own. Bonus points if performed from memory.

 

Challenge 6: Two Roads Diverged

From a list of words, create a new poem to lighten our steps. Words will be provided closer to the event.

 

Challenge 7: Adventure is out there!

Is this your first event, time performing, Bardic Madness, or are you younger than age 12? This challenge is for you!

Perform a piece involving merchants or traders.

 

Challenge 9: A Journey with Friends

A performance with two or more people.

 

Challenge 10: A Daring Adventure

Perform something you've never done before.

Perform an instrumental performance.

Challenge 12: The Road Home

"To know the road ahead, ask those coming back." - Chinese Proverb. Perform a piece about coming home.

 

Challenge 13: Once Upon a Time

The time has come for good little bards to take their rest. Tell us a bedtime story that may (or may not) have been written in period.
